Success for Millers Oils Rising Stars
Millers Oils Rising Stars are looking back on some fantastic results and improved performances in each of their respected disciplines, backed all the way by motorsport lubricants and oils manufacturer, Millers Oils.
During 2009, the drivers have benefited from using Millers Oils’ advanced motorsport products to boost vehicle performance, including the award winning ‘Nano Technology’‘ gear oils, providing maximum protection and prolonged component life. They have also had the added bonus of receiving technical advice and expertise from the experienced Millers Oils product management team.
Congratulations are in order for Tom Walster, who had a great season in his Renault Clio R3, winning the R3 British Rally Championship one event before the season ended. The Championship title was secured by Tom with a series of excellent podium finishes at rallies across the UK, which included wins at the Sunseeker, Bulldog and Isle of Man, and second place at the Jim Clark Rally.
Commenting on his successes, Tom says: “We worked hard to maximise our results over the season and it was great to have a fantastic range of recognised premium high quality products from Millers Oils to help us along the way. Having a reliable range of specialist motorsport products to call upon played a crucial part in our success in the BRC this year.”
Elliot Stafford also finished his season on a high, securing two wins in the Super Mighty Mini Championship at Silverstone, finishing a commendable fifth place in the overall championship rankings.
Despite some fantastic performances throughout the season, including wins at both Oulton Park and Silverstone, Elliot wasn't in a position to fight for the overall championship, due to some unfortunate luck with collisions and other troubles earlier in the season.
Elliot commented: “It has been great to have the support of Millers Oils this year, and the products they have provided us with, in particular the brake fluid, have been a real revelation.
“Next season I have the option to continue in the Super Mighty Mini's with the aim of winning the championship and hope to build on the strong performances I achieved at the end of this season.”
Competing in the MSA British Formula Ford Championship in a Spirit 2006 car, Kieran Vernon, also secured an impressive finish to the season, narrowly missing out on first place to finish runner-up in his Scholarship class and finishing fifth in the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch in October. Kieran put in a fantastic performance at the Formula Ford Festival and was unfortunate not to get a podium finish. Despite having some bad luck in qualifying which led to him qualifying 17th, Kieran fought hard to move through the positions to finish 5th overall.
Commenting on his performances this season, Kieran says: “We have been racing on a relatively low budget this season so to attain the results that we have is a great achievement.
“Receiving products and support from Millers Oils has certainly helped our performance and progress, and we are looking to improve again on our performances next season in the Formula Ford Championship.”
Last but certainly not least, the youngest of the Rising Star's, 16-year-old Zoe Wenham, finished a very respectable 9th in the Saxmax Championship. Zoe had an eventful 2009 racing campaign, including rolling her car on the track in early season, before gradually improving the pace as the final rounds at Snetterton in September approached.
Speaking about her season, Zoe says: “The pace we've found at the end of the season shows that I should have been much closer to the top of the championship, which is something I hope to improve on next season. At Snetterton we had one great race - finishing just off the podium in 4th - but unfortunately, due to an incident involving another car, we were forced to retire during the Sunday racing.
“I have always found Millers Oils products to be reliable and performance enhancing so to have their support has been a fantastic boost to my season.”
