With its Cosworth engine and Hewland gearbox, the Chevron GR8 follows a classic British formula.
The thinking behind the Chevron GR8's development has been to provide drivers with a high performance mid-engined coupe that delivers a satisfying season's sport.
The Chevron GR8 is a sporting coupe in the purest sense. You could say it turns the notion of a supercar on its head. Unleash their performance on the road and within very few seconds you could be on the wrong side of the law.

The design of the new car has a deliberate affinity with the classic Chevron B8 racing coupe, some 70 of which were built following its introduction in 1968.
The Cosworth 2.0L YD in-line 4-cylinder power unit develops 255-260 bhp at 8200 rpm. Peak torque is 190 ft-lbs at 7500 rpm. Engines for the Chevron GR8 are being built alongside Cosworth's F1 production line.

Helen Bashford-Malkie at Chevron explains:

"The B8 provided us with a perfect yardstick. It lightness and dynamics gave us targets to work to. Even compared to modern racing GTs, the B8 is exceedingly quick. It is agile, beautifully balanced and has vice free handling – and the upper reaches of its performance abilities are accessible to amateur racers of reasonable proficiency.

"Our objective has been to replicate the best qualities of the B8's but apply advances in knowledge gained during the 42 years since it first took to the track. And of course the biggest leap in performance seen in the intervening years is down to tyre technology and aerodynamics.

"Although Chevron is in the forefront of international historic sports and GT championships, the marque is less well known in contemporary racing circles. The Chevron GR8 affirms our determination for the marque to engage with modern-day motorsport.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Cosworth as our engine supplier for the Chevron GR8 at a time that coincides with its re-emergence as a major presence in Formula One.
Cosworth engines, in the shape of MAE, SCA, FVA, FVC and BDA units, plus the DFV, were the engines of choice for a long line of Chevrons built during the course of the 1960s and 1970s.

"With the Chevron GR8, Britain not only has a new mid-engined contender in sports/GT racing. With the BARC-organised one make Chevron GR8 Challenge Series, British motorsport has what should be a highly entertaining motor racing series.

"Internationally, the Chevron GR8 is the only 2.0 litre mid-engined coupe designed from the outset as a customer racer. It fills an evident niche in the market, which is borne out by enquiries we have already received about the possibility of running national Chevron GR8 race series from Sweden, France, Italy, Brazil, the Middle East and North America."
